We are planning a rich social programme that will benefit all conference attendees, also those who are attending online. The provisional plan for those who are attending in person may include the following.
- Civic reception: We hope to be able to hold civic reception in Oslo City Hall (Rådhuset) facing the harbour. The City Hall is full of art and history, and is also the venue for the Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony each year in December. The civic reception includes a welcome speech by the Mayor's office, finger food, mingling with sparkling wine and soft drinks with the complements of the City of Oslo, an a private guided tour of the City Hall. See the link under "Venues" for more information closer to the date.
- After the Civic reception, local students will invite young conference attendees to continue in their own informal social event at the student bar within walking distance.
- Zero-emission fjord cruise & dinner: A midsummer evening cruise in Oslo fjord aboard a brand new zero-emission electric ship Legacy of the Fjords that started traffic in June 2020. The ship has capacity for 390 guests, with ample standing room on the deck and seating inside, giving a pleasant cruise in any weather. The ship collects guests from the pier by the spectacular Oslo Opera House in the early evening, and travels past small islands, landmarks, and historical places. The indoor catering includes a large buffet (with alternatives for those with food-intolerance), good wine and non-alcoholic alternatives, and a fully licenced bar. See the link under "Venues" for more information closer to the date.
You are very welcome to bring your partner and family to the civic reception, and to book additional tickets for the fjord cruise
