Practice sessions

Concept for the practice sessions

The practice sessions will provide advanced vocational learning, and continued professional development. They are primarily aimed at practitioners, i.e. they are specialized vocational workshops/seminars, or mini-courses, where attendees learn first-hand, from experts, new methods that they can apply to their own vocation. However, we are sure that these sessions will have a universal appeal, also for students and scientists. These sessions will have the same status as traditional workshops in earlier conferences, where presentations need not necessarily be connected to submitted papers. The parallel sessions will be scheduled so as not to collide with parallel scientific sessions on the same topic. Examples of potential sessions are listed below.

Call for practice session proposals

We welcome proposals for practical training sessions / practice workshops. Details of how to submit ideas on the online form are given in the "Submit" menu. Alternatively, you may contact the secretariat as early as possible whether you wish to organize such a session, or if you have suggestions for topics or possible organizers or sponsors of such a session.

Here are some examples of session topics that we believe could be of relevance for the attendees:

  • Best-practice IAQ measurements (field-audits) for HVAC and medicine/occupational hygiene:
    • Measurements of ventilation rates and ventilation efficiency (AHU, in-duct, & in-room)
    • Building-integrated outdoor IAQ monitoring (sensors, etc.)
  • Building services commissioning methods:
    • Methods for balancing of CAV & VAV ventilation systems
    • Ventilation system air leakage, measurements & documentation
  • Materials and exposure control:
    • Application of certification schemes in materials selection (e.g. BREEAM, Svan Mark, WELL)
    • Criteria for use of recycled materials
  • Digital qualitative and quantitative methods in IAQ studies:
    • Questionnaires and psychometrics
  • Indoor solutions for the medical sector:
    • Turning existing buildings into makeshift isolates
  • Moisture damage:
    • Simulation software in damage analysis
    • Mitigation and refurbishing (audits, drying methods, equipment, documentation)
